Il n’y a pas que les Beatles à Liverpool ! Au début des années 80, Michael Head, auteur-compositeur surdoué forma The Pale Fountains, lesquels sortirent deux très beaux disques, avant de se perdre dans la poudre blanche. Michael en réchappa, et forma Shack, avec son jeune frère John, à la guitare électrique. Il reste de cette épopée quelques albums dont le succès fut inversement proportionnel à la qualité, comme il se doit.
Le 3ème album, H.M.S. Fable, est un peu inégal mais est quand même considéré comme l’un des meilleurs albums parus en 1999. Il contient “Streets Of Kenny”, une chanson qui aborde frontalement, un peu comme le “I’m Waiting For My Man” du Velvet Underground, la question de la recherche de la drogue, du manque, de l’addiction. Et c’est magnifique !
