L’un de mes films préférés de 1999 fut American Beauty de Sam Mendes, avec Kevin Spacey, Annette Bening, Mena Suvari… La bande originale du film comprenait cette chanson tirée du second album du groupe Gomez, Liquid Skin. Je ne sais plus si c’est cette bande originale*qui m’a amené à Gomez, ou autre chose, mais, en tout cas j’ai réécouté Liquid Skin ; je continue à bien aimer “We Haven’t Turned Around”, mais, pour le reste de l’album mon conseil c’est : on peut s’en passer…
Gomez était un quintet britannique d’où émergeait la voix particulière de Ben Ottewell. Ils ont sorti sept albums entre 1998 et 2011, puis Ben Ottewell a poursuivi une carrière solo que je n’ai pas jugée très bouleversante.
Mais “We Haven’t Turned Around” est une chanson qui tient le coup, et elle mérite de figurer dans ce blog, sans pour autant que je me creuse la tête pour ajouter des commentaires superflus.
